I’m deeply honored to receive the Stand Up for Justice Educator Award. As an educator, my mission has always been to equip students with the tools to become the best versions of themselves and to empower their passions.

West United has been the most authentic and impactful platform for student empowerment that I’ve encountered in my 20 years of teaching. Through this initiative, students are engaging with their communities, asking meaningful questions, and developing actionable plans to create positive change. My role is simply to support and guide them as they bring their visions to life.

This award is a testament to the incredible potential of empowered high school students, and I’m truly grateful for the recognition.
It was such an honor to be nominated for this award and incredibly humbling to receive it. The work we do at Jamison Elementary, through The Jamison Today Show, to create unique spaces for students to express their creativity, celebrate differences, and promote acceptance has been enormously important to me. I felt such pride and gratitude to see the effort of Jamison’s students and teachers celebrated.
As is the case for many teachers who are honored in such a way, it’s more than just the recognition – it’s a reflection of the passion and work of a team dedicated to creating an exceptional experience for kids. My colleague, Jared Hottenstein, has played a huge role in building The Jamison Today Show, and I’d be remiss not to recognize his enormous contribution.

Receiving this award is an encouragement to continue finding new ways to empower students and uplift their voices to make Jamison a place where every child feels valued and inspired.
Honorable Mention
Lynn Hartzell
Warwick Elementary School

We are proud to honor Lynn Hartzell with an Honorable Mention for this year’s Stand Up For Justice Award. A fifth-grade teacher at Warwick Elementary for over 25 years, Lynn ensures every child feels safe, valued, and empowered.

Her classroom fosters empathy, connection, and growth through affirmations, morning meetings, and meaningful discussions. Weekly check-ins give students a voice, while her digital safety lessons teach respect and responsibility online. By modeling the values she teaches, Lynn positively impacts students, families, and the wider school community. We celebrate her compassion, dedication, and commitment to justice.
